Better Not Touch That

A young woman journeys from crippling self-repression to openness; from her family home to a roosting place; out of her old skin into her new form.  The tale unfolds through text, live folk music, imagery, anecdotes, poetry, expressive gesture, animalistic embodiments, and a wide variety of objects. Using hints of Appalachian culture as a parallel for isolation and a deep-seated fear of change, this intimate theater piece is a picking apart of how to shed what stunts us from freedom.
